Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang believes humanoid robots will see widespread use in manufacturing facilities within the next five years.
During a keynote address at the company's annual developer conference, Huang introduced new software tools designed to help these robots navigate their environments more effectively.
In a subsequent conversation with journalists, he shared his insights on the future of AI, suggesting that a sign of its ubiquity could be the presence of humanoid robots in daily life. "This is not a five-years-away problem; it’s a few-years-away issue," he stated.
Huang emphasized that the manufacturing industry is likely to be the first to adopt humanoid robots due to its well-defined tasks that can be executed in controlled settings. He explained, "It ought to go to factories first because the domain is much more regulated and the use case is much more specific."
He also noted the economic viability of humanoid robots, estimating that the rental cost for a robot could be around $100,000, which he believes represents a sound investment.
