In Davos, Switzerland, on January 24, the chief executive of Japanese IT company NTT DATA highlighted the importance of establishing global standards for regulating artificial intelligence (AI) to mitigate risks associated with its rapid advancement.

According to Abhijit Dubey, "The issue, particularly with AI, is not about excessive or insufficient regulation, but rather about uniform regulation on a global scale." He emphasized the need for standardization to mitigate potential risks during the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos.

Dubey pointed out that a unified global approach to intellectual property protection, energy efficiency, and combating piracy and deepfakes could lead to significant progress. He stressed the importance of companies integrating their business and AI strategies to fully harness the productivity benefits of new technology.

In addressing the potential of AI, Dubey noted, "The primary challenge lies not in the technology itself – as it continues to advance rapidly – but in ensuring that a company's workforce is prepared to adopt these innovations and that the necessary data architecture is in place."
