In January, nearly 96 percent of new cars registered in Norway were electric, which brings the country close to achieving its target of exclusively selling zero-emission vehicles this year. Diesel cars represented a mere 1.5 percent, while petrol cars accounted for only 0.4 percent of new registrations, as reported by the Norwegian Road Federation. According to OFV Director Oyvind Solberg Thorsen, Norway can be considered to have achieved its goal even if electric vehicle sales do not hit 100 percent. Christina Bu, the head of the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association, suggested that Norway is anticipated to conclude the year with electric vehicle sales ranging between 95 and 100 percent.
