David C. Bohmerwald, a North Carolina company owner, has pleaded guilty to attempting to sell military technology to China without a U.S. Government license. At 63 years old, Bohmerwald could face up to 20 years in prison for violating the Export Control Reform Act. It was disclosed by the government that Bohmerwald tried to export 100 accelerometers, falsely stating their value as $100 instead of almost $20,000. Special Agent in Charge, Cardell Morant, emphasized that intercepting this illegal export helps prevent the unauthorized use of sensitive technology.
