The Netherlands is establishing a fund to attract top foreign scientists, according to Education Minister Eppo Bruins in a letter to parliament. Although Bruins did not provide a specific timeline, he emphasized that the fund should be operational as soon as possible.
Bruins noted the significant global demand for exceptional scientific talent and highlighted how shifting geopolitical conditions are enhancing scientists' international mobility. He stated that the fund would be available to scientists of all nationalities. This initiative comes in the context of the U.S. government's recent cuts to research grants for several universities.
