Nearly 30 Missing and Homes Buried After Southwest China Landslide

A rain-triggered landslide hit Jinping village in Sichuan province yesterday at 11:50 AM. The incident buried 10 houses, with 28 people reported missing. Two survivors were rescued, and approximately 360 residents were evacuated while nearly 1,000 emergency personnel carried out search operations.

President Xi Jinping ordered comprehensive rescue efforts, and China dedicated 80 million yuan ($11m) for disaster relief. Officials cautioned about hazardous conditions due to heavy rainfall and geological factors that turned the landslide into a dangerous debris flow.
