Kyiv, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Moldovan President Maia Sandu announced her arrival in Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in a post on the X social network.

"We will discuss security, energy, infrastructure, trade, and mutual support along the EU path," she stated.

Moldova is currently grappling with an energy crisis following the cessation of Russian gas supplies via Ukraine at the start of the year.

Kyiv declined talks to renew the gas transit agreement due to Russia's prolonged invasion, now spanning nearly three years.

Moldova asserts the existence of alternative supply channels; however, Russia has refused to redirect gas shipments until the settlement of an alleged $709 million debt, a sum contested by Chisinau.
