Mexico City, Feb 1 (Reuters) - According to Mexico's agriculture chief's post on the social media site X, the United States is set to resume importing Mexican beef after signing memorandums to lift the ban.

Following a positive detection of New World screwworm in Mexico last November, Mexican officials informed the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), leading to the suspension of Mexican beef exports to the U.S.

Mexican Agriculture Minister Julio Berdegue announced that the USDA's animal and plant health inspection agency signed initial memorandums to lift the ban, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the two governments.

No specific timeline was provided regarding the resumption of cross-border beef trade.
