Addressing concerns about illegal migration, Sheinbaum pledged a humanitarian approach to migrant needs while also committing to repatriate foreign migrants. She stated that negotiations will determine responsibility for related costs.
She reiterated a commitment to respectful relations and collaboration with the U.S. on security matters. Regarding the USMCA trade pact, she clarified that a review is scheduled for 2026, aiming to avoid conflicts before then.
Economist Julio Ruiz from Citigroup noted Sheinbaum's efforts to distinguish concrete actions from rhetoric in response to Trump's new term, stating that she is attempting to calm tensions and convey a message of stability.
