Meta to Implement Performance-Based Layoffs, Cutting 5% of Staff from Monday

Meta has initiated the layoff of approximately 4,000 employees, equivalent to 5% of its workforce, as part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg's drive for efficiency and investment in AI. Affected employees in the US, Europe, and Asia have started receiving notifications, as per an internal memo acquired by Business Insider. Zuckerberg clarified that the layoffs are solely based on performance in an effort to elevate performance standards. Some employees have voiced worries about a culture of fear and uncertainty, likening the work atmosphere to a George Orwell novel.
