Medvedev: Putin-Trump Call Indicates Europe's Era is Ending

Moscow, Feb 13 (Reuters) - According to Russian security official Dmitry Medvedev, Europe feels envious and resentful about the recent phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Medvedev stated that Europe perceives this call as a sign of its diminished global influence.

The call between Trump and Putin on Wednesday has sparked concerns among European politicians that the two leaders might reach an agreement regarding the conflict in Ukraine that could be detrimental to Kyiv. Germany's defense minister expressed regret on Thursday over what he perceived as premature concessions made by the U.S. administration to Russia before the commencement of negotiations.

Medvedev, a former Russian president, described Europe as being "mad with jealousy and rage" in a message on Telegram. He highlighted that Europe was neither informed in advance about nor consulted on the content of the Putin-Trump call.

"It reveals its actual role in the world," Medvedev commented. "Europe's era has come to an end."
