Lula of Brazil Appoints Padilha as Health Minister

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has removed Nisia Trindade as health minister and appointed Alexandre Padilha to the position, according to a statement from the presidential palace released on Tuesday.

Padilha, who currently serves as Lula's institutional relations minister, will be officially inaugurated during a ceremony scheduled for March 6, the statement indicated.

This move constitutes the second change in Lula's cabinet this year, following the replacement of the presidential head of communications in January amidst a decline in the administration's popularity.

In addition to this alteration, Lula has been contemplating the potential appointment of the head of his Workers Party, Gleisi Hoffmann, as institutional relations minister, as reported by Reuters on Monday, citing insider sources.
