According to a Lithuanian prosecutor, Russia's military intelligence was responsible for an arson attack on an Ikea store in Vilnius in May last year. The suspect connected to the case is currently in custody in Poland, along with others linked to similar crimes. Western officials suspect that Russian-paid operatives have been involved in a series of sabotage incidents in Europe in recent years, though Russia consistently denies any involvement.

Arturas Urbelis, a prosecutor at the Lithuanian general prosecutor's office, stated that the investigation revealed a connection to Russia through a chain of intermediaries. He emphasized that "This is connected with the military intelligence, with the security services."

The prosecutor mentioned that the attack, carried out by two Ukrainian citizens, one of whom was underage, is being treated as a terrorism case. He noted that the other suspect was apprehended in Lithuania shortly after the crime.
