In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion that Russia would be receptive to European peacekeepers in Ukraine, the Kremlin reiterated its firm opposition to such a proposition. Russia has consistently stated its objection to the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine, viewing it as a direct threat to its sovereignty. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, declining to outwardly contradict Trump, underscored Russia's stance as communicated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Peskov stated, "There is a position on this matter that was expressed by the Russian Foreign Minister, Lavrov. I have nothing to add to this and nothing to comment on. I leave this without comment." Trump stated that both he and Putin would consider endorsing European peacekeepers in Ukraine under the condition of a peace settlement. Trump confirmed, "Yeah, he will accept that. I specifically asked him that question. He has no problem with it."
