On Wednesday, Ireland declared a donation of 15 million euros ($16.3 million) to Brazil's Amazon Fund, as announced by the Brazilian government. Over the next three years, the sum will aid in combating deforestation and preserving the world's largest tropical rainforest. This marks Ireland's inaugural contribution to the fund, joining seven other donor countries. The fund, managed by Brazil's development bank, works to prevent deforestation, monitor its impact, and promote sustainable development. To date, it has financed 123 projects with a total investment of 3.1 billion reais ($534.6 million). Alongside Ireland, Norway, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan have also supported the fund. The donation was disclosed during a meeting in Sao Paulo between Brazil's Environment Minister Marina Silva and Ireland's Transportation Minister Sean Canney.
