Airbus started the year with a slow pace in commercial jet production and deliveries compared to the year-end sprint in December. According to data from UK-based Cirium Ascend, the European aircraft manufacturer delivered approximately 22 aircraft in January, a decrease from 30 the previous year. Analyzing the aircraft distribution for the beginning of the year can be complex, with some sources suggesting the final count may slightly exceed the observed deliveries. In January, Airbus confronted an engine shortage after advancing some December deliveries in an agreement with engine supplier CFM. The company also experienced a decrease in the number of maiden flights indicative of production levels. Overall, Airbus conducted 38 A320-family and two A220 maiden flights in January, down from 44 and 5 respectively in the previous year, as shared by industry expert Rob Morris. In 2024, Airbus delivered 766 jets, nearing the adjusted target of around 700 deliveries, lowered from 800 mid-last year due to component shortages.
