"BENGALURU, Jan 10 (Reuters) - In a Texas federal court on Thursday, India's Infosys filed a counterclaim against rival Cognizant, alleging anti-competitive measures and poaching of key executives.
Infosys accused Cognizant of unfair practices including contract clauses barring clients from hiring competitors for IT work and denying software training. It also claimed targeted poaching of executives, notably appointing S Ravi Kumar as CEO in 2023, stalling Infosys Helix software development.
Cognizant responded, vowing to address the allegations, emphasizing fair competition without exploiting its intellectual property as Infosys allegedly did.
Infosys is yet to comment on the issue. This countersuit follows from Cognizant's accusations last August of trade secret theft related to TriZetto software utilized in healthcare insurance administration by Infosys.
TriZetto's Facets and QNXT are key in automating insurance tasks. The complaint noted Infosys' misuse of TriZetto's software, alleging improper reworking into an Infosys product.
Infosys seeks triple damages, legal fees, and costs, without disclosing the damage amount. The case is under the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, titled Cognizant TriZetto Software Group Inc v. Infosys Ltd, No. 3:24-cv-02158-X."
