In an Instagram post, Koo expressed his deep sorrow, describing his current feelings as "indescribable grief" and a period of "gut-wrenching pain." The 48-year-old star, Hsu, a prominent figure in Mandarin-speaking entertainment, reportedly fell ill and passed away during a visit to Japan with her family.

The unexpected death of the actress, best known for her role in the popular 2001 TV series Meteor Garden, reverberated throughout the entertainment industry, causing shockwaves across Asia.

On Thursday, Koo, also known as DJ Koo, shared on Instagram, "On 2 February, 2025, my angel returned to heaven... Right now, I am going through a time of gut-wrenching pain," appealing for privacy for his family during this difficult time and urging against spreading hurtful allegations.

Subsequent to media reports speculating on the inheritance of Hsu's estate, which allegedly includes a multimillion-dollar property portfolio, Koo clarified his decision to entrust everything to his mother-in-law, safeguarding the children's share until they reach adulthood with legal measures.

Hsu and Koo's relationship, which started in 1998, faced obstacles leading to a breakup due to Koo's management's disapproval. After Hsu's marriage to Wang Xiaofei ended in a contentious divorce in 2021, she and Koo reunited and married in 2022.

The late star's passing deeply affected fans in Asia, particularly for her roles in Meteor Garden and as a host on Taiwanese variety shows alongside her sister Dee. Reports indicated that Hsu's remains were repatriated to Taiwan on Thursday.
