Heathrow Airport Closes Due to Substation Fire and Power Outage

A massive fire at North Hyde electrical substation in West London has led to the closure of Heathrow Airport until midnight, impacting over 1,351 flights and 291,000 passengers. The blaze, which began yesterday at 11:23 PM, required the efforts of 70 firefighters to contain and left 16,300 homes without power.

As a result, hundreds of flights have been diverted to various airports across Europe, with major carriers such as British Airways, Air France, and Singapore Airlines canceling operations. This incident is expected to cause widespread travel disruptions, potentially resulting in losses of hundreds of millions of pounds for the airline industry.
