At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, Reuters reports that Rafael Grossi, the chief of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, stated that Iran currently possesses approximately 200 kg of uranium enriched to nearly 60% purity, which is close to the 90% needed for weapons-grade uranium. Grossi mentioned that based on an International Atomic Energy Agency standard, this amount is theoretically sufficient, if further enriched, for five nuclear weapons. He also noted that Iran's recent increase in enrichment to 60% had boosted its production rate at that level by seven times.
