On February 5, a Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire at an oil depot in Russia's Krasnodar region, which has been extinguished, as confirmed by regional officials.
Recent attacks by Ukraine on Russia's energy facilities have caused fires at a major oil refinery in the Volgograd region and the Astrakhan gas processing plant.
Authorities stated on the Telegram messaging app that the fire in a tank with oil product residues in Novominskaya village, Kanevsky District, has been fully extinguished.
Governor Veniamin Kondratyev mentioned that the fire, initiated by a falling drone debris, resulted in no injuries. A team of 19 individuals with 19 pieces of equipment battled the flames.
The specific depot affected by the fire and the extent of damage were not disclosed by Kondratyev.
The Russian defense ministry reported on the destruction of four Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight but did not reference the Krasnodar region in their statement on Telegram.
The ministry solely acknowledges drones downed by its air defense systems without specifying the number launched.
There has been no immediate response from Ukraine. Kyiv asserts that its assaults inside Russia target infrastructure crucial to Moscow and are retaliation for Russia's ongoing bombings in Ukraine.
