Google Accused of Violating Landmark EU Regulations; Apple Urged to Allow Competition

The European Union has required Apple to enhance the compatibility of its iPhone and iPad operating systems with competing technologies, marking the first enforcement action under the Digital Markets Act. The EU Commission reported that Google has not sufficiently complied with the Act, as it continues to prioritize its own services in search results. Preliminary findings indicate that Google does not permit app developers to inform users about cheaper alternatives available outside its Google Play Store.
