Germany Maintains Debt Issuance Plan for Second Quarter, Reports Finance Agency

Germany's issuance plan for the second quarter of 2025 remains consistent with the forecast made in December, according to the Federal Finance Agency. The country plans to issue approximately 380 billion euros in securities this year, marking its lowest level since 2019. This will include raising 240 billion euros on the capital market and an additional 126 billion euros on the money market, both through auctions.

This quarterly update from the finance agency, responsible for managing Germany's debt, precedes an expected increase in public spending due to an agreement among parties aiming to establish the next government. The agreement includes significant reforms to debt rules and the creation of a special fund for investment.

The anticipated rise in borrowing has generated excitement about a larger pool of safe-haven debt from Europe's largest economy.
