WASHINGTON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Cognosphere, the creator of the anime-style fantasy video game "Genshin Impact," has agreed to pay $20 million and prevent children under 16 from making in-game purchases without parental consent. This settlement resolves U.S. Federal Trade Commission claims that the company breached a children's privacy law.

The FTC stated on Friday that Cognosphere reportedly promoted loot boxes to children in a misleading manner, concealing actual costs and misrepresenting prize probabilities to all players.
