Gene Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner, and his wife Betsy Arakawa were discovered deceased at their residence in New Mexico, as reported by the Santa Fe New Mexican website on Thursday. The Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed that the couple, along with their dog, had passed away, and there were no immediate signs of foul play. Local authorities were not able to provide immediate comment.

Hackman, a renowned character actor who won Academy Awards for "The French Connection" in 1971 and "Unforgiven" in 1992, had a prolific career spanning over 80 films, in addition to appearances on television and stage since the early 1960s. Residing outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, the former Marine was married twice and was a father of three. He tied the knot with Arakawa, a 63-year-old pianist, in 1991.
