Fourth Missing US Army Soldier Found Deceased in Lithuania

A fourth U.S. Army soldier, who along with three others was involved in a sinking incident last week in a peat bog, has been found dead, according to U.S. and Lithuanian officials.

The bodies of the other three soldiers were recovered on Monday after rescuers located their armored vehicle in a military training area near the Belarus border.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda expressed his deep sadness on social media and extended condolences for the fallen soldier, who was training in Lithuania.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the fourth death at a press briefing, stating that the President and his administration are praying for the victims and their families.

Nauseda also expressed gratitude to those who assisted in the search for the missing soldier under such challenging conditions.

Rescuers had been working for several days to retrieve the M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicle used by the soldiers during an exercise at the Pabrade training ground, where U.S. units have been rotating since 2019.
