Finland's Stubb Informs Trump of Deadline for Ukraine Ceasefire

Finland's President Alexander Stubb stated that he has informed U.S. President Donald Trump about the necessity of setting a deadline for establishing a ceasefire in Ukraine to facilitate its implementation.

"April 20 would be an appropriate time for a full ceasefire without any conditions. A deadline is necessary, given that it is Easter and President Trump will have been in office for three months," Stubb explained to Finnish reporters in London.

During a meeting in Florida on Saturday, Stubb and Trump discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and also played a round of golf, according to Stubb's office.

Since taking office in January, Trump has referred to the war in Ukraine as "ridiculous." Earlier this week, the United States, along with Ukraine and Russia, announced a pause in strikes in the Black Sea and against each other's energy targets.

Stubb indicated that Trump's patience with Russia is waning, and the U.S. has "far-reaching" plans if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire. Trump also mentioned the possibility of imposing secondary tariffs of 25% to 50% on all Russian oil if he believes Moscow is hindering efforts to end the war.
