A 2-year-old child and a 41-year-old man were fatally stabbed in a park in Aschaffenburg, Germany. A 28-year-old man from Afghanistan was arrested for the attack. Two other individuals were seriously injured, and the park was sealed off by the police.

The suspect had a history of violent behavior and had been detained three times before. Despite receiving psychiatric treatment, he was recently released due to rejected asylum status, with plans to return to Afghanistan. This incident is the latest in a series of fatal knife attacks in Germany in recent months, preceding the upcoming federal election on 23 February.

Authorities continue to investigate the stabbing, which occurred in Schöntal Park at around 11:45 GMT, involving a kindergarten group. The Bavarian State Premier described it as a "cowardly and despicable act." Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the incident as an "unbelievable act of terror" and urged a thorough investigation into the suspect's presence in Germany.

Concerns over immigration have intensified following previous fatal attacks in the country. The CDU currently leads in the polls ahead of the federal elections, with the SDP in third place.
