Fans of Liam Payne Install Memorial Bench in Buenos Aires Cemetery

Fans of British singer Liam Payne honored him by inaugurating a bench in his memory at the British Cemetery of Buenos Aires on Sunday. Payne tragically passed away at the hotel where he was staying. Benches in British parks and public areas are often dedicated to lost loved ones, sometimes featuring emotional or humorous inscriptions. The inscription on the bench, in reference to the One Direction song "History," read: "You and me got a whole lot of history, so don't let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever, Liam." During the ceremony, amidst cloudy skies, 26-year-old fan Luana Bustamante expressed the significance of having a bench in Payne's name. Attendees placed a photo of Payne and flowers on the bench while a priest offered blessings. Bustamante remarked, "This is where Liam spent his last days in Argentina, finding solace in the chapel before returning to his native country." Following his passing on October 16, Payne's body was initially in the British Cemetery until toxicology and laboratory reports were completed, after which it was repatriated to his family on Nov. 6. Fans also unveiled a red mailbox to send messages to Payne's family. Lucia Esquivel, 24, expressed, "We anticipate many visitors wanting to leave messages for the family. Ideally, we hope to forward these messages to the United Kingdom through the cemetery authorities." She added, "We sincerely hope this can be arranged."
