The European Parliament has prohibited Huawei lobbyists from entering its premises due to an ongoing investigation regarding the suspected assistance to the Chinese tech giant, a parliament spokesperson confirmed on Friday.
"As a precautionary measure, the parliament has decided to suspend access to representatives affiliated with Huawei effective immediately," stated the spokesperson, validating a report in Politico.
Belgian prosecutors have recently arrested several individuals for alleged bribery within the European Parliament, purportedly related to Huawei.
Responding to the allegations, Huawei stated on Thursday that they take the accusations seriously and will promptly engage with authorities to gain a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
"Huawei maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption or any misconduct, and we are dedicated to adhering to all relevant laws and regulations consistently," the company emphasized.
