The Mississippi Department of Internet Technology Services will evaluate state agencies' use of artificial intelligence and create policy recommendations under an executive order issued by Governor Tate Reeves. The executive order mandates that AI policy recommendations must be fair, innovative, secure, and transparent, among other criteria. This is the first legal action regarding AI in Mississippi, following failed legislative attempts to regulate AI usage in the past year. Governor Reeves stated that embracing AI will position Mississippi as a leader in innovation and attract businesses to the state.
