Elon Musk-Led Group Bids $97.4 Billion for Control of OpenAI

A group of investors headed by Elon Musk has proposed a $97.4 billion acquisition of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have had a strained relationship following Musk's departure from the organization in 2018. Musk alleges that OpenAI has veered off course from its initial goal of advancing AI for the betterment of humanity. In reaction to the offer, Altman retorted on X, "No thank you but we will purchase Twitter for $9.74 billion if interested."
