Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof engaged in "critical conversations" with visiting officials on Friday in Amsterdam. Discussions included topics such as human rights and the semiconductor equipment supplier ASML.

The Dutch government has implemented stricter export regulations on ASML's chipmaking tools to China, a major market, due to pressure from the United States – a move that Beijing has contested.

Schoof stated that his recent meeting in The Hague with Ding was predominantly positive, and he accepted an invitation to visit China later this year adding, "China is a crucial trade partner, especially for the Netherlands, which must be considered in all discussions."

Concerning semiconductor equipment exports, Schoof emphasized that the Netherlands determines its own policies independently but highlighted the close alliance between the two nations. He mentioned, "We are awaiting the stance of the American government and have been in contact with Trump administration officials at various levels."

China's foreign ministry reported that Ding expressed China's interest in collaborating with the Netherlands to ensure the smooth operation of global supply chains.
