The Dutch cultivated meat company Mosa Meat has recently applied to the European Commission for regulatory approval of its cultivated beef fat product, marking the EU's second lab-grown meat application. The comprehensive submission, which required two years of work and the involvement of 10 employees, comprises nearly 1,000 pages and 450 processed samples.

According to Mosa Meat's CEO Maarten Bosch, the European Food Safety Authority's risk assessment of the product is anticipated to last approximately 18 months. Mosa Meat's objective is to contribute to a more sustainable food system and they believe that lab-grown fat has the potential to enhance the flavor of plant-based products for meat enthusiasts.
