A recent report highlights that over the past 50 years, at least 112 North American bird species have seen their populations decrease by more than half. Mike Brasher from Ducks Unlimited notes that duck populations have dropped by approximately 30% since 2017, mainly due to habitat loss and drought. The report points out that more than a third of U.S. bird species are in need of immediate conservation measures, impacting both ecosystems and economies. Experts suggest that targeted conservation initiatives, encompassing public and private initiatives, have the potential to reverse these trends and promote well-being.
