In Copenhagen on January 28, Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, stated after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron that political leaders in Europe and worldwide are fully committed to upholding respect for international borders.

Frederiksen expressed, "The resounding message from allies in the Nordic countries, Europe, and beyond is the importance of honoring territories and state sovereignty. This is vital for the global community we have collectively built since World War II," in an interview with broadcaster TV2.

Her remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump's expressed interest in acquiring control of Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark.
