Cruise to Lay Off Half of Workforce Before Operations Closure: Report

General Motors is reducing its workforce by about 50% at its defunct Cruise robotaxi venture. Cruise revealed the decision to downsize in response to a strategic shift. GM anticipates annual savings of up to $1 billion by discontinuing the Cruise robotaxi initiative. In addition, CEO Marc Whitten and other top executives will depart Cruise this week.
