Approximately 27,000 farmed salmon have escaped from a farm off the Norwegian coast during a storm, as reported by Mowi, the world's largest salmon producer. Mowi is offering a reward of around $44.65 for each salmon caught, as per The Guardian.
Environmentalists caution that the escape poses a significant threat to wild salmon, with two-thirds of Norway's wild Atlantic salmon genetically impacted by farmed salmon.
In response to the severe situation caused by the storm damaging the salmon cage at the Storvika V facility, Norwegian authorities have instructed Mowi to extend its recapture efforts.
