Commerce Chief Calls for Industry Support to Block Chinese Access to US Chips

In a statement on Tuesday, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick expressed the Trump administration's initiative to collaborate with companies and foreign entities to hinder China's acquisition of U.S. chips. Lutnick reiterated concerns over Chinese AI firm DeepSeek's unauthorized use of American chips.

During a Bureau of Industry and Security conference, Lutnick stated, "People diverted our chips to China for financial gain, aiming to undermine our way of life by supporting anti-American forces."

Lutnick conveyed the administration's intention to incorporate export controls in trade agreements, emphasizing the choice countries face between aligning with American values or prioritizing profit at the expense of principles.

Highlighting the significance of Taiwanese chip access, Lutnick emphasized the pivotal role of Taiwanese chips in industries like automotive manufacturing.

Moreover, Lutnick underscored President Trump's endeavors to promote domestic production of aluminum, steel, semiconductor chips, and other essential goods, stressing the importance of bolstering drone production and safeguarding data centers.
