The European Union has introduced new tariffs on U.S. goods totaling approximately 26 billion euros in retaliation against the Trump administration's tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. This decision impacts a variety of American products, such as motorcycles, bourbon, and jeans, thus influencing trans-Atlantic relations.
Ursula von der Leyen expressed that "In a world filled with geopolitical and economic uncertainties, it is not beneficial to burden our economies with tariffs."
The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU cautioned that the tariffs will negatively affect employment and economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic.
