In Paris on February 11, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized that Canada aims to underscore the adverse effects of the United States' steel and aluminum tariffs. He stated that Canada's response will be resolute and unambiguous if necessary.
"Canadians will stand up strongly and firmly if we need to," Trudeau asserted at the Paris artificial intelligence summit.
On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, increasing them to 25% without exemptions. This move is intended to boost the struggling sector but poses a threat of escalating trade tensions.
Trudeau condemned these tariffs as "unacceptable."
