A British journalist, Charlotte Alice Peet, has been missing in Brazil for over 10 days, as reported by a foreign correspondents' association on Tuesday, urging authorities to intensify search efforts. Peet, 32, was reported missing after visiting Sao Paulo, according to a statement from the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents based in Rio de Janeiro.

The association revealed that Peet had informed a friend in Rio on February 8 about her plans to travel to the coastal city and find accommodation, but the friend was unable to host her. Subsequently, Peet's family in Britain contacted this friend after losing contact with the journalist.

Having previously worked as a freelancer in Brazil for Al Jazeera and British news outlets, Sao Paulo police are managing the case based on her last known location. The family has provided details about her flight to Brazil and a copy of her passport to local authorities.

In a separate statement, Sao Paulo's public security office confirmed that "the 5th Missing Persons Unit is investigating the case to locate the missing person and clarify the situation."
