On Monday, February 3rd, the Brazilian real strengthened against the U.S. dollar for the 11th consecutive session, its longest winning streak since April 2005. The currency closed at 5.8159 reais per dollar, its strongest level since November 26th when it stood at 5.8096 reais per dollar.

The real initially weakened by over 1% versus the dollar in early trading, only to rebound and close 0.3% stronger following news of U.S. President Donald Trump's health improvement.

The real's rally comes after a sharp decline in late 2024, driven by investor concerns over Brazilian government fiscal policy and capital outflows. Year-to-date, the Brazilian real has appreciated nearly 6% against the U.S. dollar.
