Two members of Congress, Josh Gottheimer and Darin LaHood, are urging governors to ban the Chinese AI app DeepSeek on government devices citing cybersecurity and data privacy concerns. Texas, New York, and Virginia have already prohibited the use of DeepSeek on their government devices. Gottheimer and LaHood raised apprehensions that DeepSeek could potentially grant unauthorized access to sensitive government information to foreign adversaries, including the Chinese Communist Party.
