In Gdansk on January 24, Polish game developer Big Cheese Studio fell victim to a hacker attack early Friday, as confirmed by its management to the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

The breach occurred around 0400 GMT, with the company's website remaining offline as of 1123 GMT. Big Cheese Studio has implemented security measures and plans to issue an official statement later in the day, according to PAP.

Citing reports from users on the social media platform X, PAP stated that the hackers had infiltrated the company's game code systems and obtained personal data of its employees. They are threatening to expose this data unless a ransom of 100,000 zlotys ($24,887) in cryptocurrencies is paid.

Despite Reuters' attempts to contact them, Big Cheese Studio was not immediately available for comment.

By 1124 GMT, the company's shares had dropped by 7.3%.
