Belgian authorities are currently on the lookout for armed individuals following a shooting incident outside a metro station in central Brussels.

Video footage reveals at least two masked individuals carrying what appear to be Kalashnikov weapons near the entrance of Clémenceau station in the Belgian capital early Wednesday.

An exchange of gunfire was captured at around 06:15 local time (05:15 GMT).

According to Sarah Frederickx, a police spokesperson in Brussels, the suspects escaped into the metro station and could possibly still be inside the tunnels.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in the shooting. Both local police and federal railway police are conducting a search in the area.

Clémenceau station, along with the nearby Brussels-Midi station, a hub for Eurostar trains, have been temporarily closed. Additionally, two metro lines serving central Brussels, from Gare de l'Ouest to Trône, have been suspended, affecting routes near the European Parliament.
