A BBC study revealed that four AI chatbots, including ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, generated more than half of their news summaries with notable inaccuracies and distortions. It was found that 51% of AI-generated responses had flaws, with 19% of these inaccurately referencing BBC content. Deborah Turness, CEO of BBC News, stressed the critical nature of delivering precise news and urged tech companies to collaborate in resolving these challenges. Following the identification of substantial inaccuracies, Apple temporarily halted its AI news alerts, underscoring the importance of responsible AI application in news dissemination.
