Barclays, the British investment bank, announced on Monday the appointment of former Goldman Sachs banker Paul Johnson as the new head of equities for Asia Pacific. Johnson, who will be based in Hong Kong, will oversee Barclays' equities business in the region, with a focus on equity derivatives, equity-linked financing, electronic trading, and prime brokerage.

With over two decades of experience in equities and derivatives, Johnson most recently held roles as Asia Pacific co-head of equity derivatives and head of exotics equity derivatives trading at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Prior to that, he served as head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEEMEA) and Latin America foreign exchange options (FXO) trading at Bank of America in London, where he concentrated on expanding new franchises in the region. Johnson had previously spent more than ten years at Goldman Sachs in CEEMEA FXO trading.
