Spanish police announced on Saturday the arrest of a suspect in Malaga in connection with a fatal attack on two Swedish football fans in Brussels in 2023. The suspect, who remains unnamed, was apprehended at Malaga airport attempting to leave Spain. According to Spanish police, he supplied the firearm used in the attack. The suspect was scheduled to appear in court in Madrid for extradition proceedings to Belgium, where he faces charges of terrorism and homicide. Following the attack, a related suspect was shot dead by police in Brussels, who claimed affiliation with Islamic State and cited motives related to Koran burnings in Sweden.
