The Army has delegated control of the Integrated Visual Augmentation System program to Anduril, as confirmed by founder Palmer Luckey in a blog post. Microsoft, initially granted the IVAS contract in 2018, will remain the cloud provider despite losing its prime contractor status. The Department of Defense's Inspector General revealed in 2022 that IVAS was not effectively meeting soldiers' requirements, pointing out persistent technical challenges with Microsoft’s prototypes. Anduril intends to manage the production and advancement of IVAS, subject to Department of Defense approval, as well as raise funds for expansion in Ohio.
